Prescreen Coordinator

The Prescreen Coordinator performs review of medical information to ensure patients are qualified for current or potential studies.

Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

  1. Triage patients to determine eligibility for active and/or potential studies
  2. Collect initial medical and psychiatric information by interviewing patients and obtaining medical records
  3. Perform clinical tasks included, but not limited to, memory testing, vital signs, height and weight
  4. Assist CRCs with patient care and data management
  5. Thoroughly understand all assigned studies through reading protocols, attending investigator meetings, start-up meetings, and coordinating with principal investigator
  6. Educate patients and family regarding the details, requirements, and risks of the clinical trial
  7. Schedule screens and follow up appointments
  8. Enter all pre-screen test results, medical conditions and medications into database
  9. Tracking all data through database and all trackers within assuring all data is entered and up to date
  10. Other tasks as assigned

Qualifications:

  1. Minimum Associates or Bachelor’s degree preferred
  2. Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in a clerical or customer service-related position, preferably in medical or health provider environment or equivalent combination of education and experience

Melissa Belardo, APRN

Clinical Investigator

Melissa Belardo, is a certified family nurse practitioner (FNP-BC), joins K2 Medical Research with more than a decade of clinical experience. She has served as an investigator in over 20 trials. Prior to clinical research, she held roles in gastroenterology, hepatology, and nurse education.

Melissa’s academic background includes a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Adventist University, followed by a master’s degree in Family Nurse Practitioner from Georgetown University.

Melissa is a native of the US Virgin Islands’ and is fluent in both English and Spanish; Melissa has lived in central Florida for the past twenty years. When she’s not at work, you can find her volunteering at her local church and spending time with family.
