Dr. Craig Curtis, MD, serves as Chief Medical Officer and founder of K2 Summit Clinical Research and was co-founder of Compass Research, one of the country’s largest and foremost memory loss, Dementia and Alzheimer’s Disease research centers. Dr. Curtis’ research focuses on prevention and treatment of Alzheimer's Disease and as a collaborator, has been published in leading national and international journals including the New England Journal of Medicine and the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) Neurology. He has been both a local and national lecturer on the topics of Alzheimer’s Disease and clinical research site management. Dr. Curtis is particularly interested in the underlying biology and prevention of memory loss, dementia and Alzheimer’s Disease - and pursuing the science that one day will lead to an effective treatment. Dr. Curtis began his medical career while proudly serving in the United States Navy. His tour of duty lasted 6 years primarily at the Washington D.C. Naval Yard Medical Clinic, a detachment of Bethesda Naval Hospital. He attended the Univ. of Maryland but obtained his undergraduate degree from Regents College of the State of New York (due to military service) and earned his medical degree from Northeastern Ohio University College of Medicine. Dr. Curtis trained at Florida Hospital (now Advent Health – one of the largest hospitals in the United States); at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia where he participated in multiple oncology clinical trials; and St. Vincent’s Hospital in Jacksonville, Florida. He has maintained his Florida Medical license in good standing since 1997.

Dr. Curtis lives in central Florida with his wife, 2 children and their Golden Retriever. His interests outside of medical research include cycling, tennis, WWII history and watching Cleveland sports teams.

Dr. Joseph Geffen is a Board Internal Medicine physician with extensive experience treating and managing complex patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Building upon a strong foundation in traditional care, Dr. Geffen now focuses his expertise on the forefront of medical advancement as an investigator at K2 Medical Research in Central Florida, where he leads clinical trials in the areas of dementia, cardiovascular risk reduction, metabolism, and longevity.

Dr. Geffen earned his Doctorate of Osteopathic Medicine and Master of Public Health from Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale. He completed his internal medicine residency at the University of Florida, Jacksonville. His comprehensive clinical background, which includes special interests in geriatrics, the gut microbiome, and obesity medicine, profoundly informs his current approach to medical research and trial leadership. Dedicated to continuous innovation in healthcare, Dr. Geffen is an active member of the American College of Physicians, American Osteopathic Association, and the Florida Osteopathic Medical Association. While his daily focus has shifted toward pioneering new treatments, his dedication to improving patient outcomes and fostering meaningful connections remains at the core of his professional philosophy. When Dr. Geffen isn’t leading trials or reviewing the latest medical literature, he enjoys spending time with his family, reading, running, and playing the piano.

Dr. Reinhard Rott is a board-certified surgeon and experienced Principal Investigator whose career spans more than 35 years of clinical medicine and over 16 years of clinical research. His broad medical background that spans surgical oncology, general surgery, and primary and urgent care gives him a comprehensive clinical perspective that he brings to the oversight of complex trials. Dr. Rott has served as an investigator on several hundred clinical trials across Phases I-IV, with research experience spanning neurodegenerative disease, cardiometabolic conditions such as diabetes, obesity, and MASH/GI disorders, and dermatology, with particular interests in longevity and gene therapy.

Dr. Rott earned his medical degree from Rutgers Medical School and completed his surgical training at the University of South Florida, including a fellowship in surgical oncology at Moffitt Cancer Center. He practiced surgical oncology before broadening his clinical work into primary care and other areas of medicine and is a Diplomate of the American Board of Surgery and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He later earned an MBA with a specialization in Healthcare Finance from Northeastern University’s D’Amore-McKim School of Business, adding a business perspective to his clinical and research background. His interest in research dates back to undergraduate laboratory work in neuroendocrinology and molecular biology, a passion he returned to after decades in clinical practice. Dr. Rott believes clinical research should stay grounded in the practice of medicine and in the individual needs of the people who volunteer to participate.

Of Austrian background, Dr. Rott spent his early years in Europe before completing his university and medical education in the United States. He is fluent in English and German and speaks conversational Spanish. He has lived across the country before settling in Florida, and outside of medicine and research he enjoys cooking, music, theater, trap and skeet shooting, and time on the water.

Dr. Klenow was raised in Duluth, Minnesota and moved to Florida in 2018. She graduated from the University of Minnesota with her Doctor of Medicine, but she also holds a Master of Science in Physiology as well as a Master of Nursing. Dr. Klenow completed her residency in General Surgery and is Family Practice Board Certified and has also worked in Emergency Medicine for 15 years. She has been practicing medicine for over 30 years and is excited to work in research.

Outside of work, Dr. Klenow enjoys participating in the Women Doctors Club of The Villages, volunteering at the Marion Therapeutic Riding Association. She can also be found golfing and hanging out with her Bichon Frisé, Cameron.

Ruth completed her Nurse Practitioner at Stonybrook University in New York. Her initial Nursing degree was obtained in St. Louis, Missouri. She has worked as a Nurse practitioner in the fields of emergency medicine, cardiology, and neurology. Ruth has over 10 years of research experience.

Her hobbies include traveling and exploring new places in Florida with her family.
