ORLANDO, Sept. 22, 2025 – K2 Medical Research officially opened its newest clinical research site today in East Providence, R.I., expanding access to cutting-edge neurology and psychiatry clinical trials for patients and families across Rhode Island and Southern New England. The site is led by William Menard, Managing Partner, along with Daniel Sacchetti, DO, FAAN, and John Stoukides, MD, two physicians with long-standing roots in the region’s medical community.
Menard brings over 25 years of research experience in the fields of Psychiatry and Neurology. Dr. Sacchetti, a double-board-certified vascular neurologist, previously served as Chief of Neurology at Southcoast Health, a multi-hospital system in southeastern Massachusetts. Dr. Stoukides serves as Chief of the Division of Geriatrics and Palliative Medicine at Roger Williams Medical Center and is Medical Director of both Roger Williams Senior Health Care Associates and the Rhode Island Mood & Memory Research Institute (RIMMRI).
The grand opening celebration was attended by Mayor Roberto L. DaSilva and Anthony DeCrescenzo, Executive Director of the East Providence Chamber of Commerce. During the event, Mayor DaSilva presented Menard and his team with an official citation welcoming the company into the local business community.
“We are thrilled to bring K2 Medical Research to East Providence,” said Dr. Daniel Sacchetti. “Our mission is to make clinical trial opportunities more accessible, giving patients and families the chance to explore promising new treatments close to home. By working hand-in-hand with our community, we aim to advance care for neurological and other complex conditions with compassion, hope, and a steadfast commitment to a brighter future in medicine.”
“I am very enthusiastic about the partnership between K2 and RIMMRI,” added Dr. John Stoukidis. “Both organizations share a commitment to exceptional patient care. The result will surely improve healthcare by bringing tomorrow’s treatments to the people who need them today.”
K2 Medical Research – East Providence will conduct trials across a range of conditions, with a focus on Alzheimer’s disease, alcohol use disorder, major depressive disorder, and vaccine development. Beyond clinical research, the team is actively engaged in the community through participation in health fairs, cultural events, and free educational presentations for local organizations and the people they serve.
“We are proud to call East Providence home,” said Sean Stanton, CEO and Co-Founder of K2 Medical Research. “Together with local leaders and partners, we look forward to expanding access to groundbreaking clinical trials that can change lives, while creating new opportunities for growth and collaboration across Rhode Island.”
